RICKY NIERVA: Roz was the office manager for Monsters, Incorporated. She's based kind of off of a slug. (Laughs)”

NARRATOR: Designer Ricky Nierva:

RICKY NIERVA: I ended up trying to monsterize her a bit. I put some actual horns on the horn-rim glasses. When we were developing the looks for the computer, I said, I'm visualizing this type of wispy hair that comes up in a cone, not unlike cotton candy. And so we actually had a cotton candy maker here and then we started making that look that I wanted for the hair and we had a big old cotton candy party. (Laughs) I'm going to make an ice cream monster the next time.

There's no boundaries when I create artwork. If there's a piece of paper next to me or a napkin or whatever, I just start creating. I started designing Roz and I ran out of room. And I liked the drawing, so I just added another piece of paper, taped it on and finished up the tail there.

NARRATOR:
In this area, you’ll find lots of art made in developing Pixar characters. On the opposite wall are little red pen sketches of one character in motion, next to ideas for monsters based on caterpillars and vegetables.
