Luis Camnitzer (born 1937) is a German-born Uruguayan artist and academic who resides in the United States. He is among the most important conceptual artists in Uruguay.

Introduction
One of the first artists to incorporate political activism into conceptual art; co-founder of the New York Graphic Workshop (1965); included in the 2000 Whitney Biennial. In 1939, he studied sculpture at the Universidad de Bellas Artes y Arquitectura in Montevideo. The German government awarded Camnitzer a scholarship to study sculpture and printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich.
