- Introduction
- Known particularly for his evocative dreamscapes and metaphoric works of the 1930s. Armstrong had a considerable influence on the British Surrealist painters, however, he denied a connection with Andre Breton's Surrealist group; his works do not have the same Freudian overtones, in contrast to Dali's works.
