Since joining the Museum, Mr. Bajac has co-organized the exhibition <i>Scenes for a New Heritage: Contemporary Art from the Collection</i> (2015), and organized <i>A World of Its Own: Photographic Practices in the Studio</i> (2014) and <i>Modern Photographs from the Thomas Walther Collection, 1909–1949</i> (2014) (with Curator Sarah Meister).</p> <p>From 1995 to 2003, Mr. Bajac was the associate curator in the Photography Department at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris. There he organized a number of exhibitions on 19th- and early-20th-century photography, including <i>Le Daguérréotype français: Un objet photographique</i>, which traveled to The Metropolitan Museum of Art (as <i>The Dawn of Photography: French Daguerreotypes, 1839–1855</i>) in 2003. He then joined the Musée national d’art moderne-cabinet de la photographie at the Centre Pompidou in 2003 as curator, becoming chief curator in 2007. While at the Centre Pompidou, he organized and co-organized exhibitions on modern and contemporary photography, including <i>Jacques-Henri Lartigue: L’album d’une vie</i> (2003), <i>Bernd et Hilla Becher</i> (2004), <i>William Klein</i> (2005), <i>Miroslav Tichy</i> (2008), <i>La Subversion des images: Surréalisme, photographie, film</i> (2009), <i>Dreamlands</i> (2010), <i>Images sans fin: Brancusi, film et photography</i> (2011), and <i>Voici Paris: Modernités photographiques, 1920–1950—La collection Christian Bouqueret</i> (2012).</p> <p>Mr. Bajac has published extensively on photography, most notably the three-volume <i>Découvertes Gallimard</i> series on the history of photography (2000–10), as well as <i>Parr by Parr: Discussions with a Promiscuous Photographer</i> (2011), <i>Brassaï: Le flâneur nocturne</i> (written with Sylvie Aubenas, 2012), and <i>Robert Doisneau: Pêcheur d’images</i> (2012). He lectured on the history of photography at the École du Louvre from 2010 to 2012. He has also written articles devoted to modern and contemporary photographers and artists using photography, including Alexander Calder, Man Ray, Lucien Hervé, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Luigi Ghirri, Karen Knorr, Mimmo Jodice, and Lise Sarfati. </p> <p>Mr. Bajac earned Diplomas from the Institut d’études politiques in Paris (1988) and the École nationale du patrimoine (1994).</p> </p> </div> </div> <div class="column-c"> <div class="box"> <img alt="Bajac" height="239" longdesc="Photo by Peter Ross" src="/images/about/seniorstaff/bajac.jpg?1493239697" width="205" /> </div> </div> <br class="clear" /> </div>
