This inaugural exhibition in MoMA's Filmmaker in Focus series pays tribute to Carlos Reygadas, an auteur whose small body of stylistically diverse and accomplished works that explore complex emotional issues has already made a strong impact on contemporary international cinema. This presentation offers a rare chance for audiences to see Carlos Reygadas's Silent Light alongside the director's previous two features (Reygadas has indicated that the three are connected) and his short films. Also included in the exhibition is Carl Th. Dreyer's Ordet (1955), a film that had a major influence on Silent Light in particular.
Organized by Jytte Jensen, Curator, Department of Film.
With grateful thanks to BAC Films International, Vitagraph Films, Palisades Pictures, and Carlos Reygadas and Mantarraya Producciones.
