Three men work on a traffic-congested Istanbul bridge that spans the Bosphorus—the dividing line between Europe and Asia. Fikret, a young man without papers, sells roses while avoiding the police, including Murat, and skirting the taxis whose drivers, like Umut, add to chronic traffic jams that reduce bridge crossing to a snail’s pace. Ozge’s feature debut reveals the drama, sadness, and hope in the everyday lives of her protagonists, each of whom yearns for something better. Men on the Bridge is a revelatory portrait of a cosmopolis in flux.
