1956. France. Directed by Claude Autant-Lara. Screenplay by Pierre Bost. With Jean Gabin, Bourvil, Jeannette Batti, Georgette Anys, Robert Arnoux. A dark comedy, both literally and in spirit, set in Paris during the Nazi Occupation. One night, two men attempt to cross Paris on foot before curfew, lugging four suitcases’ worth of butchered pig for sale on the black market. In French; English subtitles. 80 min.
