  • The Italian Straw Hat

    1927. France. Written and directed by René Clair. Adapted from the play by Eugène Labiche and Marc Michel. With Albert Préjean, Geymond Vital, Olga Tschechowa, Paul Ollivier, Alex Allin. Studded with visual gags and moving at the speed of light, Clair’s film maps the diversions a hapless bridegroom must take on the way to his own wedding after his horse eats the hat of a not-so-virtuous lady of certain standing. Silent. Approx. 80 min.
