The Brain That Wouldn’t Die
1962. USA. Directed by Joseph Green. Screenplay by Green, Rex Carlton. With Jason Evers, Virginia Leith, Leslie Daniels. This gory horror film follows a mad scientist’s attempts to attach his fiancée’s severed, still-living head to a functional body. Severed heads are a common motif in Burton’s work, and his predilection may have been informed by a childhood filled with films like The Brain That Wouldn’t Die. 82 min.
