  • Mad Monster Party

1967. USA. Directed by Jules Bass. Screenplay by Forrest J Ackerman, Len Korobkin, Harvey Kurtzman. With the voices of Boris Karloff, Phyllis Diller. This Rankin/Bass stop-motion-animated musical features a campy cavalcade of classic horror characters, including Dracula, the Mummy, and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, as they plot to gain control of Baron von Frankenstein’s secret weapon during a monster convention. The film’s pun-filled humor was an obvious influence on Tim Burton’s cartoon drawings of the early 1980s. 95 min.
