  • You Wont Miss Me

2009. USA. Directed by Ry Russo-Young. Screenplay by Russo-Young, Stella Schnabel. With Schnabel, Simon O’Connor, Carlen Altman. Presented at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival, You Wont Miss Me blends cinematic techniques and 16mm, Super 8, and digital video formats to show us the kind of character rarely depicted on screen. Stella Schnabel plays Shelly Brown, a twenty-three year-old whose conflicting needs sabotage every step she takes in life and work. Her self-absorption and desire for acceptance lead her to the edge of both love and failure. Employing an elliptical, fragmented narrative, Russo-Young and Schnabel create a truly singular and unpredictable portrait. 81 min.
