    2002. France/Germany. Directed by Costa-Gavras. Screenplay by Costa-Gavras, Jean-Claude Grumberg, based on the play Der Stellvertreter by Rolf Hochhuth. Director Costa-Gavras is best known for such political thrillers as Z (1969) and Missing (1981). In Amen he adapts Hochhuth’s drama about the Vatican and the blind eye it turned upon being alerted to Nazi Germany’s wartime atrocities. In English, French, Italian, German; English subtitles. 132 min.
