Iraqi Short Films
2008. Argentina. Directed by Mauro Andrizzi. This affecting compilation of short videos shot in the midst of the Iraq war presents the conflict through the lens of American and British soldiers, Iraqi militia members, and corporate contractors. Many of the segments were shot by soldiers under fire; others are pithy propaganda pieces or soldiers' visions of war as music video. Ranging from the banal to the intense, from the shocking to the darkly humorous, the videos depict war as it is experienced, articulated, and vividly imagined by those who are actually fighting and dying. In Arabic, English; English subtitles. 90 min.
