Dreams Deferred: The Sakia Gunn Film Project
2008. USA. Directed by Charles B. Brack. A plea for the rights of African American lesbians, the film follows the tragic story of Sakia Gunn, a fifteen-year-old hate crime victim who was murdered in Newark, NJ, after she rejected her killer's advances. Although her attacker received a seventeen-year sentence, there was little media coverage of the trial. Organized by J. T. Takagi and William Sloan. 55 min.
