Viola fuses his personal observations of Japanese culture with a metaphysical contemplation of life, death, and nature, achieved through a symbolic exploration of video's relation to light and reflection. 56 min.

  • Four Songs

    1976. USA. Directed by Bill Viola. In terming these video segments "songs," Viola references the relationship of his work to musical structures and to the poetics of Romanticism. 33 min.
