The Times of Harvey Milk

In anticipation of the November theatrical release of Gus Van Sant's biographical drama MILK, To Save and Project presents Epstein's powerful and moving Academy Award–winning documentary about activist politician Harvey Milk (1930–1978), the self-described "Mayor of Castro Street." The first openly gay public official in California, Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of City Supervisors in 1977, where he became known as a charismatic and skillful leader of the burgeoning gay rights movement. The following year, both he and the city's mayor, George Moscone, were shot to death by another city supervisor, Dan White, whose lawyers presented the infamous "Twinkie defense" during his trial.
