Cherry Blossoms
2008. Germany/Japan. Written and directed by Doris Dörrie. With Elmar Wepper, Hannelore Elsner, Aya Irizuki. Dörrie (Straight through the Heart [1983], In the Belly of the Whale [1984], Men [1985]) returns to MoMA with a gossamer tale—reminiscent of both Leo McCarey's Make Way for Tomorrow and Yasujiro Ozu's Tokyo Story—in which parents visit their children in the big city and find them entirely too busy. Print courtesy Strand Releasing. In German, Japanese, English; English subtitles. 126 min.
In the Film exhibition Kino 2008
