  • Emergency Kisses

1989. France. Directed by Philippe Garrel. Screenplay by Marc Cholodenko, Garrel. Music by Barney Wilen. With Brigitte Sy, Philippe Garrel, Louis Garrel, Anémone, Maurice Garrel. In one of his characteristically intimate, contemplative, and confessional chronicles of marriage and family, Garrel stars as a director who alienates his wife by passing her over for a starring role in a film about their lives. The film's tender score is by saxophonist Barney Wilen. In French; English subtitles. 90 min.

  • Sausage City

1974. USA. Directed, animated, and scored by Adam Beckett. Beckett, who headed the rotoscope and animation department for the original Star Wars before his untimely death in 1979, created this astonishing, orgiastic work of hand-drawn animation while at CalArts. 6 min.
