    1999. USA. Directed by Milos Forman. Screenplay by Scott Alexander, Larry Karaszewski. With Jim Carrey, Courtney Love. A portrait of the iconoclastic comedian Andy Kaufman, Forman's film matches its idiosyncratic subject with stylistic quirkiness and a career-defining performance by Carrey. Recreating a series of Kaufman's most inspired stunts/routines, this highly original biopic portrays an otherworldly mind who thrilled audiences with his childlike sense of wonder but remained enigmatic and impenetrable both onstage and off. 118 min.
