Churchill's stature rests on her work as both a cinematographer and a director. She constructs an intimacy with people ordinarily found only in dramatic films, thus throwing the viewer into firsthand experience with a subjective camera style that actively participates in the story yet focuses on the people themselves. This style resonates throughout Churchill's films, which cover a wide range of topics from music to the justice system and the miltary.
