  • Le Péril jeune

1996. France. Directed by Cédric Klapisch. With Romain Duris, Vincent Elbaz, élodie Bouchez. Klapisch, the director of L'Auberge espagnole and Les Poupées rousses (Russian Dolls), teamed up for the first time with his favorite lead actor, Duris, to make a pitch-perfect, bittersweet comedy about the disillusioned but rambunctious post-1968 generation of high school boys in 1970s France. In this cult hit, four pals reunite at a maternity hospital several years after passing their exams to await the birth of a child fathered by their recently deceased friend. Having drifted apart, they think back on their adolescent years—the music, girls, teachers, parents, political protests, and drugs—and the circumstances that led to their friend's tragic overdose. Part of the ARTE series Les Années lycée. In French; English subtitles. 101 min.
