  • A Tragic Hunt

    1946. Italy. Directed by Giuseppe De Santis. With Enrico Tacchetti, Andrea Cecchi, Carla Del Poggio, Massimo Rossigni. In the wake of World War II, two bandits working for a landowner steal a truck full of money intended for farming projects, forcing the local villagers to overcome their ideological conflicts and organize to reclaim the funding. Weaving a poignant romantic subplot into a powerful political vision, De Santis's first fiction feature was met with surprise acclaim at the Venice Film Festival. In Italian; English subtitles. 90 min.
