  • The Soul of Youth

1920. USA. Directed by William Desmond Taylor. Screenplay by Julia Crawford Ivers. With Lewis Sargent, Ernest Butterworth, Judge Ben B. Lindsey. This eloquent plea on behalf of the burgeoning juvenile court system, still an innovative concept in 1920, features a realistic portrayal of troubled adolescence by Sargent, who earlier that same year took the title role in Taylor's production of Huckleberry Finn. Print courtesy The Library of Congress. Silent, with musical accompaniment. Approx. 80 min.
