  • Encarnación

2007. Argentina. Directed by Anahí Berneri. With Silvia Pérez, Martina Juncadella, Luciano Cáceres. Coproduction with Venezuela and Spain. Though nostalgic for her past glory as the B-movie actress Encarnación, Erni Levier (Pérez) is happy enough in the big city, with her friends, the occasional role in a commercial, and an easygoing relationship with a man her age. When she decides to attend her favorite niece's fifteenth birthday celebration, however, she experiences a difficult return to her roots, and over the course of an emotional weekend frustrates her niece's expectations of her beloved aunt. Pérez embodies the aging sexpot in a fearless performance, lending her dignity and aplomb as she shows her younger self that life doesn't get any easier—no matter what your age may be. In Spanish; English subtitles. 93 min.
