  • Kill Them All

2007. Uruguay. Directed by Esteban Schroeder. With Roxana Blanco, Walter Reyno, María Izquierdo. Coproduction with Argentina and Chile. In this political thriller, a female Uruguayan prosecutor investigates the kidnapping of a Chilean chemist sought by the international courts as a witness against General Pinochet's government. The film has the immediate pull and urgency of real-world political intrigue, personal and familial betrayals, and dirty deals. A mature first feature with a social conscience and ambitious reach, augmented by Blanco's perfectly modulated portrayal of the doubts and determination of a woman in a man's world. In Spanish; English subtitles. 100 min.
