The Geisha Boy
1958. USA. Written and directed by Frank Tashlin. With Jerry Lewis, Marie McDonald, Nobu McCarthy, Suzanne Pleshette. Hayakawa's charmingly poignant cameo in this film was a reminder that his life and career had bridged the oceans. The fact that the film was shot in Nippon signified that, at last, he had brought Hollywood (or at least Jerry Lewis) to Japan, as he had, two generations earlier, brought Japan to Hollywood. 98 min.
