  • Forbidden to Forbid

2006. Brazil. Directed by Jorge Durán. With Caio Blat, Maria Flor, Alexandre Rodrigues. An attractive, energetic young cast enlivens this tale of growing pains, social conscience, and the good intentions of educated young people. Leon is a sociology student very much in love with his girlfriend Leticia, an architecture student. But she falls head over heels for Leon's best friend and roommate, Paulo, an intern at a hospital where he is exposed to people from all walks of São Paulo. The three friends are confronted by both the moral and ethical conflicts of a love triangle and the violence of the city in which they live. Portuguese; English subtitles. 100 min.
