1957. USA. Directed by Lionel Rogosin. An influential hybrid of narrative and documentary filmmaking, Rogosin's directorial debut observes the impoverished inhabitants of New York's notorious Bowery. Rogosin lived among his subjects for six months, capturing their desperate lives and small triumphs on film. Preserved by Anthology Film Archives. 66 min.
