  • Through the Olive Trees

1994. Iran/France. Interweaving related narratives, both fictive and real, and showcasing a film within a film, Through the Olive Trees humorously re-creates problems that supposedly plagued the filming of And Life Goes On...(1991)—such as one of the earlier film's nonprofessional cast members falling in love with and pursuing the woman portraying his wife. A tale of life, love, and cinema, the film's stunning last shot provided the film's title and became a signature image for the director. 103 min.
