Rain Dogs
2006. Malaysia. Written and directed by Ho Yuhang. With Kuan Choon Wai, Liu Wai Hung, Yasmin Ahmad. A powerful affirmation of Malaysia's independent film scene, Ho Yuhang's most recent film is a somber and beautiful testament to the loss of youthful innocence. In Rain Dogs, set partly in the sprawling and pastoral Malaysian countryside, nineteen-year-old Tung makes his way across the country to attend his brother's funeral. His journey is accompanied by an appropriately melancholic blues score. In Cantonese, Mandarin; English subtitles. 94 min.
