    1954. Germany/Italy. Roberto Rossellini. Screenplay by Rossellini, Sergio Amidei, Franz Graf Treuberg, based on a story by Stefan Zweig. With Ingrid Bergman, Mathias Wieman. Shot in both English and German, Fear was the last film Rossellini and Bergman made together. A bourgeois melodrama of infidelity and emotional cruelty inflected with expressionistic moments, the film was made because Rossellini was interested in the idea of Germany’s reconstruction (both material and moral) ten years after Germany Year Zero. English version. 82 min.
