  • Egomania: Island without Hope

1986. Germany. Directed by Christoph Schlingensief. With Tilda Swinton, Udo Kier. Set on a remote and icy island in the Eastern Sea, Egomania is Schlingensief’s only melodrama. When Baron Tante Teufel (Aunt Devil), the island’s vampire-like sovereign, fears that the love story between a couple might unhinge the island’s dull existence, he goes berserk. A torrent of desire, intrigue, and murder ensues. In German; English subtitles. 84 min.
