Deleted scenes from a film consisting of nothing but deleted scenes. Schlingensief’s rebuff to linear storytelling in film. In German; English subtitles. 23 min.

  • Hey Mum, Let’s Shoot a Movie

    1977. Germany. Directed by Christoph Schlingensief. With Franz R. Schmoll, Doris Stommel, Leni Bauer, Hans Michel, Martina Wolfs, Andreas Aretz. This early short movie, starring members of the director’s family, is dedicated to his obsession with filmmaking. The meta-relationship between filmmaking and the history of film would continue to be one of Schlingensief’s recurring topics. In German; English subtitles. 24 min.

    1977. USA. Directed by George Kuchar. With Barbara Lapsley, Kuchar. A screen test for Kuchar’s acting student Barbara Lapsley, who reads from a ludicrous script to a curly-haired dummy until Kuchar himself steps into the frame, instructing his actress in how to read her lines. 9 min.

  • Hold Me While I’m Naked

The loosely autobiographical Hold Me While I’m Naked is both the story of a frustrated filmmaker trying to prove his artistic integrity through his next production, and Kuchar’s homage to Douglas Sirk’s lush Hollywood melodramas. 15 min.
