2013. Japan/USA. Directed by Kazuhiro Soda. Doc Fortnight alumnus Soda returns with this droll film about the Kawasaki City Council election campaign of Kazuhiko Yama-san Yamauchi, the sole candidate running on an anti-nuclear platform following the 2011 Fukushima disaster. Yama-san’s naïve strategy ultimately exposes the malaise behind Japan’s electoral process, and his competition challenges Soda’s fly-on-the-wall documentary approach. 150 min.
