    1958. USA. Directed by Vincente Minnelli. Screenplay and lyrics by Alan J. Lerner. Score by Frederick Loewe. With Leslie Caron, Maurice Chevalier, Louis Jourdan. Minnelli’s delightful depiction of Belle Epoque Paris won nine Oscars, including an honorary one for Chevalier, who pioneered the musical genre under the direction of Ernst Lubitsch and Rouben Mamoulian beginning in 1929. Minnelli had introduced Caron (discovered by Gene Kelly) in An American in Paris. 116 min.
