  • Two Women at Combat

1974. Germany. Directed by Isa Genzken. Cinematography by Benjamin H. D. Buchloh. With Isa Genzken, Susan Grayson. Genzken’s first film, made while she attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy, documents a performance piece by Genzken and fellow student Grayson. The camera is operated by art historian and critic Buchloh. 8 min.

  • The Little Bus Stop [Scaffolding, 2007–2009]

2012. Germany. Directed by Isa Genzken and Kai Althoff. With Genzken, Althoff. Genzken’s most recent film, which premiered in Berlin last year, is a collaboration with Althoff, constructed as a series of scenes that feature both artists as various characters, from prostitutes to police to babies. Shot on location in Berlin, Cologne, and New York, it’s a comedic picaresque that plays on the clichés of the buddy movie, and an absurd but moving tribute to the bond of friendship between kindred souls. 71 min.
