  • Energy Country

2003. USA. Directed by Deborah Stratman. This “short video harangue,” as Stratman calls it, interweaves the activity of trading floors, smart weapons, radio talk shows, and the religious right with the oil refineries and smokestacks of Southeast Texas to question the disjuncture between actions and intentions. 15 min.

  • O’er the Land

2009. USA. Directed by Deborah Stratman. Sylvio Barile: “With the excuse of freedom, we lose so many things.” This meditation on the perception of threats addresses contemporary American identity, gun culture, wilderness, consumption, patriotism, and the possibility of personal transcendence of fear. 52 min.
