1960. Greece. Directed by Jules Dassin. With Melina Mercouri, Georges Foundas, Titos Vandis, Dassin. Blacklisted in Hollywood, the American expatriate director wound up in Greece, where he made this charming English-language version of Pygmalion in which a prostitute (played by Dassin’s wife, Mercouri) strives to become cultured. 92 min.
