1957. USA. Directed by Billy Wilder. Screenplay by Wilder, Harry Kurnitz, based on the play by Agatha Christie. With Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power, Charles Laughton, Elsa Lanchester, John Williams. This engaging courtroom drama (Wilder’s nod to Hitchcock) was Power’s last role and one of Dietrich’s best in her post-Sternberg period. The program includes a revealing outtake. 114 min.
