    1958. Czechoslovakia. Written and directed by Karel Zeman. Based on “The Deadly Invention” by Jules Verne. With Ernest Revere, Louis Locke, Marvin Hall, Jane Zale. Shot in a process called “Mystimation” that incorporates both live action and animation, Zeman’s work evokes Georges Méliès and anticipates the Quay Brothers. Winner of the grand prize at the Brussels International Film Festival. English dubbed. 82 min.
