  • Wolf Wondratschek: Laudatio auf Werner Schroeter

2010. Germany. Directed by Werner Schroeter. Edited by Stefan Droessler, Christian Ketels. The German author Wondratschek pays tribute to Schroeter at the 2008 Viennale film festival. Digital projection. In German; English subtitles. 21 min.

  • The Black Angel

1974. West Germany. Directed by Werner Schroeter. With Ellen Umlauf, Magdalena Montezuma. The Black Angel begins, like Luis Buñuel’s Los Olvidados, with documentary images of Mexico City and voiceover commentary, then becomes the mystical journey of two women tourists, a German and an American embassy secretary, who search for meaning and self-fulfillment among the ruins of the Incan gods. Schroeter considered the film "a nostalgic joke, a cheap farce" of kitschy colonialist romanticism. Digital preservation. In German; English subtitles. 71 min.
