  • Henry & June

1990. USA. Directed by Philip Kaufman. Screenplay by Philip Kaufman, Rose Kaufman, based on the book by Anaïs Nin. With Fred Ward, Uma Thurman, Maria de Medeiros. Kaufman’s film version of the relationship between Anaïs Nin and Henry and June Miller is a study of self-discovery set against the backdrop of bohemian Paris in the 1930s. Based on Nin’s accounts of her sexual affairs with the Millers, Kaufman’s film transmutes the literary source materials with vivid imagery. 136 min.
