2011. Mexico/USA. Directed by Daniel Rosas. Every day, in the hours before dawn in a small agricultural town in the California desert, streets come alive with migrant workers who legally cross the U.S.-Mexico border to join harvesting squads. The camera follows teams of men and women who pick produce by hand alongside heavy agricultural machinery. Shot in California’s Imperial Valley and Mexico’s Mexicali Valley, this documentary illustrates the contrasts between field and desert, urban and rural, and men and machines, presenting cross-border relationships as a stunning, complex, and often chaotic symbiosis.
