2011. Spain/USA. Directed by Woody Allen. With Owen Wilson, Rachel McAdams. In Allen's latest, once the romance and charm of Paris get under your skin you are changed forever. Gil, a screenwriter, tags along with his girlfriend Inez and her parents to Paris. Inez shops while Gil searches for the glamorous 1920s Paris of expat writers and artists. During a late-night walk, Gil pauses on a stoop when suddenly an automobile out of the past rolls up and revelers spill out. Soon he's rubbing elbows with F. Scott Fitzgerald, Pablo Picasso, and Gertrude Stein, and it becomes clear that the past beguiles Gil far more than his life with Inez. Darius Khondji's brilliant cinematography only adds to the fairytale allure of the City of Lights. Print courtesy of Sony Pictures Classics. 94 min.
