1949. USA. Directed by Raoul Walsh. With James Cagney, Virginia Mayo, Edmund O’Brien, Margaret Wycherly, Steve Cochran. This film essentially marked the end of the Warner Brothers gangster cycle, in which both Walsh and Cagney had played dominant roles for decades. Walsh ensured the cycle went out with quite a bang. 113 min.
