    1948. Italy. Directed by Vittorio De Sica. With Lamberto Maggiorani, Lianella Carell, Enzo Staiola, Elena Altieri. The product of De Sica’s brief flirtation with Neorealism, the film won a special Oscar for its portrait of nitty-gritty Neapolitan life after World War II. In Italian; English subtitles. 85 min.
