  • Presto

2008. USA. Directed by Doug Sweetland. A magician’s rabbit rebels against his neglectful owner during a performance. 5 min.

  • Wall-E

2008. USA. Directed by Andrew Stanton. Screenplay by Stanton, Pete Doctor. With the voices of Ben Burtt, Elissa Knight, Jeff Garlin. Pixar's worthy follow-up to Ratatouille has a unique back-to-the-future quality. The first third of the film is essentially silent, with the little robot Wall-E standing in for Charles Chaplin's Little Tramp, the most enduring of twentieth-century screen icons. The future Stanton depicts is grim and banal, but this Modern Times for a postmodern world still provides hope via a Chaplinesque romance. 98 min.
