  • Burden of Dreams

    1982. USA. Directed by Les Blank, Maureen Gosling. With Werner Herzog, Klaus Kinski, Claudia Cardinale, Jason Robards, Mick Jagger. This documentary reveals the troubled production of Werner Herzog’s Fitzcarraldo, the story of a poor Irishman’s dream of building an opera house in the Amazon jungle. Herzog chose to shoot the film on location in the Peruvian Amazon, but dangerous competing interests and the harsh terrain cost him his two main stars. In English, German, Spanish, and indigenous Peruvian languages; English subtitles. 95 min.
