1942. USA. Directed by Michael Curtiz. With Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman, Paul Henreid, Claude Raines, Conrad Veidt, Dooley Wilson. Andrew Sarris called Casablanca “the happiest of happy accidents, and the most decisive exception to the auteur theory.” It retains its charm nearly 70 years after it ceased being timely.
