  • The Lady Eve

1941. USA. Written and directed by Preston Sturges. With Barbara Stanwyck, Henry Fonda, Charles Coburn, Eugene Pallette, William Demarest. Perhaps Sturges’s warmest and funniest film features a conniving gambler with a heart of gold (Stanwyck), a naïve zoologist who declares “snakes are my life,” (Fonda), and the director’s usual stable of master character actors. 94 min.
